Questions
Does the Retevis L51 work in Europe or the US?
Retevis marks the L51 "Only Suitable for Asian Countries". Its LTE list is B1, B3, B5 and B8 plus TDD bands B34, B38, B39, B40 and B41, without band 20, the 800 MHz band most EU networks use outside cities. Compare the list with your operator in the LTE band checker.
Why is the Retevis L51 called a long range PoC radio?
It talks over the mobile network, not radio to radio, so the distance between two L51 radios does not matter where both have 2G or 4G coverage. Without coverage it cannot call at all.
Which push-to-talk platform does the Retevis L51 use?
Retevis's own PoC platform, with web management and dispatch consoles.
What is the difference between the Retevis L51 and L51S?
The L51S is an upgraded L51 sold on Retevis's Philippine store: 4,000 mAh instead of 2,500 mAh, more than two days of typical use, group forming with one button or an invitation code, and a lifetime free platform plan.
Does the Retevis L51 need a license?
No radio license: it is a push-to-talk over cellular radio. It needs a SIM card with mobile data and an account on Retevis's PoC platform, which Retevis support sets up after the order.
How long does the Retevis L51 battery last?
Retevis gives up to 30 hours on standby from the 2,500 mAh battery, charged over USB-C.
