Does Crosscall make push-to-talk phones?

Crosscall makes rugged Android phones, not walkie-talkie radios, and runs no push-to-talk service. Its CORE range for field work carries physical buttons that a push-to-talk app can use: three on the CORE-M6, one of them labeled PTT, and four on the CORE-Z5 and CORE-X5.123

The company was founded in 2009 by Cyril Vidal and is based in Aix-en-Provence, France. It says it has nearly 200 employees and is established in 16 countries; its customers include SNCF, the French police and Gendarmerie, and hospitals.10

Which Crosscall phones have a push-to-talk button?

The CORE-M6 is the only one with a button labeled PTT, next to buttons labeled AI and SOS. The CORE-Z5 and CORE-X5 have four unlabeled programmable buttons, and push to talk is one of the actions you assign to them.123

Each button reacts to a long press or three short presses and can call a number, open an app or switch a mode, set under Settings > Buttons.46 Compare the three in the radio comparison tool.

Which push-to-talk apps list Crosscall phones?

TASSTA, Mobile Tornado and Microsoft Teams Walkie Talkie name Crosscall phones on their own device lists. The CORE-X5 appears on all three, the CORE-Z5 on TASSTA and Mobile Tornado. Crosscall's own walkie-talkie app, X-TALK, is named in the CORE-X5 user guide.1213146

A dash means the platform's own list does not name that phone. TASSTA has its own page at /software/tassta/, and the app compatibility checker matches platforms against devices.

Microsoft documents the setup for Teams: with Teams installed, open Settings > Buttons, pick dedicated button 1 or 2, choose Long press, then PTT App, and select Teams.14 Other platforms set the button in the same Buttons menu.6

Do Crosscall phones work on European networks?

Yes. All three list the LTE bands European networks use, including the 800 MHz band 20 and 700 MHz band 28 that carry coverage outside cities. The CORE-M6 and CORE-Z5 add 5G on n28 and n78; the CORE-X5 is a 4G phone.123

Band 32 is downlink only, used with carrier aggregation.1 Crosscall built the CORE-X5 for private professional radio networks on LTE and names bands 28, 38 and 40 for them.3 Check your network in the LTE band checker.

How long does Crosscall support its phones?

Crosscall gives a five-year warranty, battery included, on its phones from generation 5 onward, and promises spare parts for ten years after the end of sale. Its security-update table runs to December 2033 for the CORE-M6 and December 2032 for the CORE-Z5.1147

• Battery under warranty. Crosscall replaces a faulty battery during the warranty if its capacity is 70% or less and it has done no more than 850 full charge cycles.4
• Repair. Both EU information sheets mark the battery as user-replaceable and link to spare parts and repair guides; Crosscall publishes disassembly guides, including one for the CORE-X5.8916
• CORE-X5. Crosscall's web store and security-update table no longer list the CORE-X5 in October 2026; its user guide and disassembly guide remain on Crosscall's site.7616

What should you check before buying a Crosscall phone for push to talk?

Check that your push-to-talk platform lists the exact model, that its bands match your network, and how you will connect a headset. Platform lists name the CORE-Z5 and CORE-X5; the CORE-M6 has a button labeled PTT, and the CORE-Z5 and CORE-X5 have four programmable buttons.1213141

• Platform list. TASSTA and Mobile Tornado list the CORE-Z5; Teams lists the CORE-X5 and older models.121314
• Audio. The CORE-Z5 and CORE-X5 keep a waterproof 3.5 mm jack; the CORE-M6 routes wired audio through USB-C 2.0.231
• Mounting and charging. All three have the X-LINK magnetic connector on the back for mounts, charging and data; the CORE-M6 and CORE-Z5 ship with the X-BLOCKER mount and a USB-C cable, without a charger.123
• Screen. The CORE-M6 screen is 576 × 1152; the CORE-Z5 has the larger 6.08-inch, 1520 × 720 display.12
