How the list is made

Each of the 354 radios in our knowledge base keeps the push-to-talk apps its maker or a seller names, with the page it comes from. We match the spellings to one app name (“Real PTT”, “RealPTT” and Corget are one app) and keep only clear product names; vague entries such as “public network PoC platforms” are left out. 223 radios name at least one app.

The Source column says where the claim comes from: the maker’s or a seller’s listing, or our radio page when we checked the app one by one for a radio with its own page on this site. Apps change device support often: check the app vendor’s own list before you buy a fleet.

Questions

Which radios work with Zello?

In our database 108 of 354 radios name Zello in the maker’s or a seller’s listing; the table above lists them. Zello itself lists the network radios and rugged phones it has tested.12 A radio missing from both lists may still run Zello if it runs Android 7 or later.

Can I install any push-to-talk app on an Android radio?

Usually, if the radio runs a supported Android version and lets you install apps from Google Play or a file. The app then needs to know the radio’s side PTT key: in Zello you set it under Options, Push-to-talk buttons, by pressing the key.34

What is the difference between “supported” and “preinstalled”?

Preinstalled means the radio ships with the app on it, often with the PTT key already set up. Supported means the maker or a seller names the app as working on the radio; you install it yourself.

Is a listing a guarantee?

No. It is the maker’s or a seller’s claim, not a test. Some makers name an app that the app’s own vendor does not list: Inrico names its T320 with Zello in a 2021 case study, while Zello’s list shows only the Inrico T199.15

Why does one radio name fifteen apps?

Some makers publish one block of “compatible platforms” for a whole product line. We show every app a listing names; the more apps, the more likely the radio runs an open Android with Google services.
