Privox on the Inrico T320

The Inrico T320 is one of the radios Privox runs on. Here is its screen with the app: tap a feature or the radio's keys to see how a shift works with it.

The radio's keys work too: PTT plays the next call (hold it to talk), the knob or ▲▼ change the group, ◀▶ switch the app’s screens, the red key stops.

    What is Privox?

Privox is a push-to-talk service that carries voice over LTE or Wi-Fi through a server. Privox states that it offers group channels, private calls, a group alert that rings every member's phone, an SOS button and a browser dispatcher console, and that sensors can raise alarms in the same channel as the shift.12

On a channel one person speaks at a time, and everyone sees who is on air.1 The documentation lists four roles: superadmin, admin, dispatcher and user. Organizations are isolated from one another.3

Privox lists temperature, humidity, leak, door, motion, power and air-quality sensors. An alarm fires once when a value crosses a limit and goes to the console, the group's phones and a manager in Telegram.1

Which devices and apps does Privox run on?

Privox runs as an Android app, an iPhone app, a web app and on two radios. Android users download a signed APK from the Privox site, iPhone users install through Apple's TestFlight, and the web app opens in Chrome, Edge or Safari.34 The radios are the Inrico T320 and the Privox Mini Radio.4

    • Android: app version 2.1. A Google Play listing is planned for later.4
    • iPhone: TestFlight builds expire after 90 days and are replaced before that. The Safari web version cannot wake a locked iPhone; only the TestFlight app rings on a locked screen.34
    • Inrico T320: a separate app (version 2.0) for a radio with a hardware PTT key, running Android 8.1.34
    • Privox Mini Radio: Wi-Fi only, no screen, a color indicator, up to 5 saved Wi-Fi networks.3
    • Sign-in: a personal QR invitation, or a login and password.4

The Privox demo FAQ says other Android PoC radios with a hardware PTT key can run the app.5 Privox publishes no list of tested radios beyond the T320 and the Mini Radio.4 None of the 291 current radios in our database names Privox among its platforms.6

What does the Privox dispatcher console do?

The console runs in a browser with nothing to install. Privox states that it shows channels, the live channel, a shift roster with each person's reachability and a call button, a sensor panel, chats, and a map whose markers show callsign and speed.12 A dispatcher can speak into any group without joining it.2

    • CALL GROUP rings all members of a group, including those currently in other groups. Whoever answers lands in the channel.3
    • Reachability has three states: on air, reachable (asleep but wakeable by a call) and offline. Status colors refresh within 60 seconds.13
    • Sign-ons and sign-offs are logged. Administrator actions are logged separately.1
    • Chats open next to the channel. Photos and documents can be up to 25 MB, video up to 50 MB.1

Where does Privox run and where is the data kept?

Privox states that the server can sit on the customer's premises or private cloud, or be hosted by Privox.25 No hosting region, deployment guide or security package is published. The privacy policy says voice is relayed through the server but never recorded or stored; messages and attachments are stored on it.7

    • Account, message and location data is kept as long as the account is active. The policy gives no other retention period.7
    • Push notifications for incoming calls go through Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM). They carry the caller, callsign and group name, not audio or message text.7
    • Privox states that traffic uses TLS 1.3 and voice uses WebRTC with mandatory DTLS-SRTP encryption.5
    • The policy, updated August 2026, names no data controller, hosting location or data-processing agreement.7

    How much does Privox cost?

Privox publishes no prices. As of October 2026 its business page offers a trial deployment on one real site with a real shift; scope, duration and terms are agreed with each customer.2 The interactive demo on the demo site is open to anyone, while the web app needs an account created by an administrator.57

What are the limits of Privox?

The Android app has no Google Play listing and the iPhone app is only on TestFlight. Bluetooth headsets are not certified yet, and the Mini Radio cannot switch groups automatically after a call.3 Privox publishes no prices, no tested-radio list and no gateway to DMR, TETRA or analog radios.

    • The documentation is addressed to test teams, organization admins, dispatchers and testers.3
    • The pages checked describe no voice recording, transcription, translation or public API documentation.13
