Best PoC radios 2026

The right PoC radio is the one whose LTE bands, battery, sealing, keys and app support fit your network and your job. In Europe that starts with band 20; in the US, with bands 12, 13, 14, 66 or 71 by carrier. The 11 models below run from IP54 to IP68 and from 2,300 to 5,000 mAh.

Which PoC radio fits which job?

A PoC radio fits a job when its bands match your carrier, its battery outlasts your shift, and its keys and apps suit the way your team talks. The table pairs the 11 models that have a page on this site with a job, using each maker's published specifications.

What makes a good PoC radio?

A good PoC radio matches your carrier's LTE bands, runs a full shift on one battery, has the sealing and keys your work needs, and is listed for the push-to-talk app you use. A dual-mode radio adds DMR or analog for places the network does not reach.

  • Battery. A 5-5-90 duty cycle is 5% transmit, 5% receive and 90% standby.30 Makers quote different cycles: over 24 hours at 5-5-90 for the PNC380, at least 20 hours at 10-10-80 for the PNC360S, 18 hours at 5-5-90 for the TLK 110.8514 Capacity in the table below runs from 2,300 to 5,000 mAh.
  • Sealing. IP67 means dust-tight and immersion to 1 m for 30 minutes. IP68 means continuous immersion under conditions the maker sets, so ask for depth and time; Sonim lists 2 m for up to 60 minutes on the XP Pro.3121 The L71's IP54 covers splashing water, not immersion.3113
  • Loudness. Makers quote speaker power or sound level: a 2 W speaker (3 W maximum) on the P50, 3 W on the PNC360S, 100 dB+ on the Sonim XP Pro, XP10 and XP3plus.25212728 Watts and decibels are different measures, so compare like with like.
  • Keys. The P50 has a PTT key, an SOS key and a group knob; the PNC380 a side PTT key and an orange emergency key on top; the Sonim XP Pro and XP10 a large programmable PTT key and an emergency key.182127 Samsung's XCover7 Pro and XCover7 have no dedicated PTT key: a programmable XCover key (and a Top key on the Pro) starts the app, and the mapping varies by app.1724
  • System and apps. Android lets a radio run a push-to-talk app; a closed system works only with the service its maker supports. In the catalog, 197 of 291 current models run Android, but only 92 of them are listed with third-party app support.32 The TLK 110 is sold to run Motorola's WAVE PTX service.15
  • Dual-mode. A hybrid adds DMR or analog radio next to LTE; 41 of the 291 current models do. Hytera says its PDC680 registers on a DMR trunking network and on LTE with one ID and switches between them.3233 See PoC vs DMR.

Which LTE bands does a PoC radio need?

The bands your carrier runs where you work. In Europe that is band 20 (800 MHz) plus band 3; in the US it is band 12 or 13, band 14 for FirstNet, and bands 66 and 71 on T-Mobile. A radio built for one region often lacks the other region's bands.34353637

B12729–746T-Mobile lists it as extended range 4G LTE; AT&T requires bands 2, 4 and 12 on IoT LTE devices383735
B13746–756Verizon: its requirement plan covers devices designed for its LTE band 13 network3836
B14758–768FirstNet on AT&T: required for devices destined for FirstNet3835
B662110–2200T-Mobile: an extension of band 4 on 1700/2100 MHz3837
B71617–652T-Mobile: 600 MHz, listed as extended range 4G LTE3837

One model can carry different bands by region. Hytera lists B20, B8 and B1 for the EU P50 but B12, B13 and B17 for the US one.12 Inrico offers EU, US and Asia lists for the T320; the US list has B12, B13, B17 and B66 and no B20.10 Pick a country and a radio to see which of its networks the bands match.

The 4G walkie-talkie guide explains bands, 2G and 3G switch-offs and coverage in more detail.

    Which push-to-talk devices are there?

Four kinds: PoC handhelds, which are radios with a PTT key on LTE; PTT phones, mostly rugged touchscreen models; hybrids that add DMR or analog; and vehicle units. The catalog's 291 current models split into 174 handhelds, 39 PTT phones, 41 hybrids, 27 vehicle units and 10 of other types.32

A PTT phone is a phone first; the push-to-talk phones page covers the carrier services behind it, and PoC radio vs phone app sets the radio against an app on your own phone. If you are still deciding between PoC, DMR and license-free radios, the radio type chooser narrows it down.

Ten of the 11 list band 20, and the Sonim XP3plus 4G does not. They span 181 to 320 g, 2,300 to 5,000 mAh and IP54 to IP68. Band lists differ by regional version, so the table names the version each list belongs to.

      Questions

What is the best PoC radio?

There is no single best one: the right radio is the one whose LTE bands match your carrier and whose battery, sealing, keys and app support fit the job. The table at the top matches 11 models to jobs by their published specifications.

Which PoC radio works on Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile?

Verizon's Push to Talk Plus page lists the Samsung Galaxy XCover7 Pro and the Sonim XP Pro 5G among its phones with physical talk buttons. AT&T's portfolio lists the XCover7 Pro, XP Pro 5G, XP3plus and XP10, and T-Mobile's Direct Connect list includes the XCover7 Pro.181920

Do PoC radios need a SIM card?

Yes. A French dealer says the Inrico T320 works with a data-only SIM or a voice-plus-data SIM, and the Retevis L71 takes two SIMs, both on standby.4213 Costs are in the SIM card and cost guide.

Can a PoC radio talk to DMR or analog radios?

Only through a hybrid radio or a gateway. Hytera says its PDC680 registers on a DMR trunking network and on LTE with one ID, and 41 of the 291 current catalog models combine LTE with DMR or analog.3332 See PoC vs DMR.

Can a PTT phone replace a PoC radio?

It runs the same kind of services. The difference is the keys and the build: Sonim's XP Pro has a large programmable PTT key and an emergency key, while Samsung's XCover7 Pro has two programmable keys and no dedicated PTT key.2117

Does IP68 mean a radio survives deep water?

IP68 means continuous immersion under conditions the maker sets, so it fixes no depth or time. Sonim lists 2 m for up to 60 minutes for the XP Pro and 30 minutes for the XP10; decode any code in the IP rating decoder.312127
